Pain Management Advanced Practice Provider in the Greater Sacramento Area

Mercy Medical Group (MMG), a multi-specialty group in the Sacramento region, is looking for a skilled and compassionate Pain Management Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our healthcare team. As a Pain Management APP, you will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and managing patients with acute and chronic pain conditions. Your primary focus will be providing comprehensive pain assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and implementing evidence-based interventions to improve patients' quality of life. The ideal candidate should have a strong clinical background in pain management, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Compensation Range: $133,000 - $176,000

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with acute and chronic pain conditions, including detailed medical histories and physical examinations.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as imaging studies and laboratory tests, to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Develop and implement individualized pain management plans, considering patients' medical history, pain severity, and treatment goals.
  • Prescribe and manage pharmacological interventions, including analgesics, opioids, and adjuvant medications, while adhering to best practices and guidelines.
  • Perform interventional procedures for pain relief, such as nerve blocks, joint injections, and spinal cord stimulation.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, physical therapists, psychologists, and social workers, to provide comprehensive pain management care.
  • Educate patients and their families about pain management strategies, medication usage, potential side effects, and non-pharmacological pain management techniques.
  • Monitor and reassess patients' pain levels, treatment efficacy, and potential adverse effects, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and thoroughly, maintaining up-to-date electronic medical records.
  • Stay informed about the latest research, advancements, and guidelines in pain management through continuous learning and professional development.

Qualifications
  • Current CA licensure and certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • DEA, Furnishing license, PAB Substance Abuse Course.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Strong clinical background in pain management, including experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of acute and chronic pain conditions.
  • Proficiency in performing physical examinations, interpreting diagnostic tests, and prescribing appropriate medications.
  • Knowledge of interventional pain management techniques, such as nerve blocks and injections.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively educate and counsel patients about pain management strategies.
  • Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to assess and manage complex pain cases.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient privacy, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Ability to adapt to changing healthcare regulations and best practices in pain management.
