The posted compensation range of $545,288 - $833611 /annually is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Faculty Physician, you will provide medical services within the scope of your licensing, training, and clinical privileges. You will also supervise and teach residents and/or fellows as indicated.

Every day, you will apply your specialized expertise to deliver high-quality patient care, while actively contributing to the education and development of future medical professionals. This involves clinical excellence, mentorship, and adherence to the highest standards of medical practice and ethics.

To be successful in your role, you will strategically deliver expert medical services aligned with your licensing, training, and clinical privileges, ensuring optimal patient care. You will demonstrate exceptional leadership in supervising and mentoring residents and fellows, actively shaping the next generation of medical professionals, and continuously contributing to both clinical excellence and academic advancement.

Education and Development

  • Teaches the lay community, medical students, residents and medical staff.
  • Provides input into the development and implementation of appropriate clinical programs and technology
  • Supports the Program Director in matters relating to the education
  • Teaches medical students, resident and medical staff. Assists manager of department in evaluating clinical competencies of staff and participates in formal and informal staff education and training programs on regular basis.
  • Communicates with colleagues and other members of the medical staff to promote positive relations.

Patient Care

  • Assists in directing the patient care and medical education.
  • Provides direct inpatient/outpatient medical care to patients and consultations.
  • Follows clinical guidelines. Works with manager to comply with all regulatory bodies and state.
  • Provides input to manager of the department in modification, installation or development of equipment or facilities used by the department.
  • Follows coverage schedule to ensure effective physician staffing levels for center/division.
  • Assists department managers with clinical supervision including input to performance and evaluation.
  • Submits charges in accordance with SJHMC and SJMG policies.
  • Dictates patient care notes and signs off on dictation in accordance with SJHMC and SJMG policies.

Research

  • Participates in the preparation of meaningful research and scientific activities.
  • Designs and conducts research projects. Prepares grant applications. Prepares scientific articles and presentations on behalf of department for various internal and external professional and charitable organizations for which honoraria or other compensation are not received.

Quality Improvement

  • Assists department in collecting data for medical quality/performance improvement (QI) program for department.
  • Provides input to QI and risk management in investigation and resolution of patient care complaints/problems as they relate to clinical issues within the department as requested.
  • Meet/exceed departmental patient satisfaction goals.

Communication

  • Prepares articles and presentations on behalf of the organization.
  • Provides to program director/department manager to report to appropriate medical staff committees.
  • Attends at least 75% of monthly department meetings.

Financial Planning

  • Provides input to department leadership in development of action plans to achieve financial performance objectives for department/SJMG.
  • Provides input to manager of department in developing operating and capital budgets.
  • Assists with meeting departmental budgetary goals.
  • Provide input to department leadership in preparation of biannual report of activities and accomplishments of department.
  • Participates in and provides input into development of business/strategic plans for department/SJMG.
  • Meet/exceed productivity standards set for department.

Dignity Health Medical Group is the employed provider group of Dignity Health Arizona. Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG) employs approximately 350 providers and 850 support staff who cover a wide variety of specialties. The medical group has had tremendous success over the past few years and now provides more than 73 sub-specialty services. The physicians and APPs provide clinical services in their areas of specialty and many serve in pivotal academic research and leadership roles.  DHMG is also heavily involved in preparing tomorrow's healthcare providers. Clinical services are complemented with translational and bench research to augment medical education for residents and students.
