Responsibilities
The Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner will report to the Dignity Health Cancer Institute administrator and collaborate with a team of oncology Physicians and advanced practice providers. This nurse practitioner will primarily have responsibility for the adult outpatient Oncology and Hematology patient population at Dignity Health Cancer Institute and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Additional opportunities for rotating between inpatient and outpatient Hematology/Oncology patient care will be required.
This position offers the opportunity to be involved in every aspect of cancer care including initial diagnosis, treatment, management of complications/acute medical issues, and palliative care.
- Responsibilities include complete/comprehensive history and physical examination, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic studies, symptom management and prescribing appropriate treatments in collaboration with the attending physician.
- Other responsibilities include consultation with specialist physicians and other team members regarding findings/changes in patient condition.

Qualifications
Minimum:
3 years clinical experience.
Master's Degree from an accredited school of nursing required
RN:AZ
DEA:AZ
RNP:AZ
Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification - Nat'l
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification - Nat'l
National Certification in a Nurse Practitioner specialty (AOCNP ANP ACNP FNP)
Credentialed as allied health professional with DHMG and SJHMC.
Preferred:
Oncology experience preferred, but will train the right candidate.
Hematology (malignant and benign) experience preferred.
New graduate NPs only if they have oncology nursing experience.
