Dignity Health Medical Group - Merced is seeking an Endocrinologist to join our group. Work with a group of providers and support staff who are more like family members than coworkers, including specialties in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Otolaryngology, General Surgery, Orthopedics and Neurology.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing and Treating Endocrine Disorders:
    Manage a wide variety of endocrine conditions such as diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, and gestational), thyroid diseases (e.g., hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, thyroid cancer), adrenal and pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, and metabolic diseases.
  • Outpatient and Inpatient Care:
    Provide both outpatient consultations and inpatient care to ensure effective management of acute and chronic endocrine conditions across diverse patient demographics.
  • Diagnostic Procedures:
    Perform diagnostic procedures such as thyroid ultrasounds, fine needle aspirations (FNA) for biopsies, and interpret imaging studies to assess and diagnose endocrine disorders.
  • Lab Test Ordering and Interpretation:
    Order and interpret lab tests (e.g., hormone panels, glucose tolerance tests, genetic testing) to guide the diagnosis and treatment of patients with endocrine conditions.
  • Patient Education:
    Educate patients on managing chronic endocrine conditions, with a focus on lifestyle modifications (e.g., diet, exercise, stress management) and the importance of medication adherence.
  • Care Coordination and Collaboration:
    Work closely with other specialties, including family medicine, internal medicine, cardiology, and nephrology, to manage complex, co-morbid patient cases and provide holistic care.
  • Endocrine Emergency Management:
    Respond to endocrine-related emergencies such as diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), thyroid storm, and adrenal crises, ensuring quick and effective treatment.
  • Follow-up and Long-Term Monitoring:
    Conduct regular follow-up appointments to monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimize care and improve patient outcomes.
  • Research and Continuous Learning:
    Participate in clinical research and stay current with emerging advancements in the field of endocrinology, ensuring the best evidence-based care for patients.
  • Administrative Duties:
    Complete accurate and timely patient documentation, including medical notes, treatment plans, and progress reports.
  • Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration:
    Attend multidisciplinary team meetings with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers to discuss complex cases and optimize patient care.


Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Endocrinology
  • Current California medical license or eligibility
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to patient-centered care
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
