The posted compensation range of $655,180 - $1,031,991 /year is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group, part of CommonSpirit Health, is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Adult Reconstructive Orthopedic Surgeon to join a well-established and high-functioning orthopedic practice at CHI Saint Joseph London in London, Kentucky.

This is an excellent opportunity for a physician who is looking for a large referral base, dedicated surgical block time, meaningful community impact, a collaborative orthopedic team, and the stability of an employed position with one of the nation's largest nonprofit Catholic health systems.

Opportunity Highlights

The incoming physician can expect:

  • Practice type: Orthopedic Surgery - Adult Reconstructive Hip and Knee; employed physician opportunity with CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group
  • Schedule: Anticipated schedule of 2-3 days in clinic and 2 days of surgery per week
  • Call: 1:4, taken 7 days at a time; call consists mostly of phone consults
  • Support staff: Practice currently includes 3 MDs, 8 APPs, CMAs, and additional support staff
  • APP support: APP support within the clinic and for rounding on patients
  • Clinic/hospital setting: Orthopedic practice in London, Kentucky, connected to CHI Saint Joseph London, a 150-bed regional hospital serving southeastern Kentucky
  • Surgical resources: Dedicated block days for surgery
  • Clinic resources: X-ray available within the clinic
  • EMR: Epic
  • Referral base: Large referral base with limited competition for hip and knee reconstruction in the draw area
  • Practice performance: High-functioning group with providers practicing in the 75th percentile

What We Offer

CommonSpirit Health offers a competitive and comprehensive recruitment package, which may include:

  • Competitive salary guarantee for up to 3 years and a lucrative production model after guarantee period.

Final compensation and recruitment incentives will be discussed directly with qualified candidates and may vary based on experience, training, location, and specialty. The posted compensation range is a reasonable estimate that CommonSpirit Health, in good faith, believes it might pay for this role at the time of posting.


Job Requirements

Qualified candidates should have:

  • MD or DO degree
  • Successful completion of an accredited Orthopaedic Surgery residency program
  • Successful completion of an accredited Orthopaedic Adult Reconstructive fellowship or similar fellowship training
  • Board certification or active participation in the board examination process
  • Focus on routine and complex replacement and revision surgeries
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky
  • DEA license or eligibility
  • Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care
  • Interest in serving the needs of patients throughout London, Laurel County, southeastern Kentucky, and the broader CHI Saint Joseph Health service area

CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group - Orthopedics in London provides comprehensive orthopedic care for patients affected by bone, joint, spine, sports-related, acute, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. The orthopedic team offers evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and advanced surgical techniques to help patients recover and return to normal activities.

The London orthopedic program includes Orthopedic Surgery, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Orthopedic Spine, Podiatry, Diagnostic Imaging, and related musculoskeletal services. Saint Joseph London has earned The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval for Total Hip and Knee Replacement and Shoulder Replacement, reflecting the strength of its orthopedic care.
