Contributes to the fulfillment of the St. Vincent Health System mission and vision and the strategic initiatives of St. Vincent Health System by providing medical care to patients under the direction of a supervising physician. Provides a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s medical, physical and psychological status, develops medical care plans, implements and manages a treatment plan, periodically assesses patient’s medical needs, and provides patient education and counseling
Responsibilities
The Ortho Advanced Practice Nurse will provide services to the designated Service Line to promote nursing knowledge and evidence based practice by functioning as a clinical resource to the Nursing Staff. The APN will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to lead and facilitate programs and teams to improve the process of care delivery to the indentified patient population. The Advanced Practice Nurse will provide direct, comprehensive, therapeutic and preventive healthcare service to the patients and their families. These functions will include, but are not limited to the following: assessment of health status, ordering and evaluating tests, diagnosing and initiating appropriate therapeutic interventions, providing instruction and counseling to patients and their families, collaborating with other health care providers to provide and coordinate services to patients, and prescribing medications. The APN will provide health care within the Registered Nurse Practitioner scope of practice for those patients and MD’s with whom they have a collaborative Practice Agreement with. The APN may also be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a clinica or hospital-based nurse practitioner or physician assistant is desirable but not required.
- Current Nurse Practitioner Licensure in Arkansas
- Collaborative Agreement with supervising physician.
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate and ability to maintain said certificate.
- ACLS or ACLS instructor certification is required upon hire
