As a Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive, patient-centered care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will work alongside a team of experienced neurosurgeons, nurses, and support staff, contributing to exceptional patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Comprehensive Patient Management: Conduct detailed histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations for new and established neurosurgery patients in clinic, as well as managing daily rounds and consultations for hospitalized patients.
- Treatment Planning & Implementation: Collaborate with supervising neurosurgeons to formulate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans, including conservative management, medication prescriptions, pre/post-operative care, and ongoing management during hospitalization.
- Pre- and Post-Operative Care: Facilitate the pre-operative workup of surgical candidates, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests. Provide continuity of care through post-operative clinic visits and manage post-operative patients in the hospital, monitoring for complications, pain, wounds, and neurological status changes.
- Emergency & Acute Care: Participate in the assessment and management of neurological emergencies and acute issues for both clinic and inpatient populations. Respond to inpatient consultations and facilitate admissions and discharges.
- Patient & Family Education: Educate patients and their families about neurological conditions, treatment options, surgical procedures, medication management, and recovery expectations across all care settings.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with surgical teams, hospitalists, intensivists, rehabilitation specialists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and optimal patient care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, complete, and timely electronic health records for all patient encounters.
Job Requirements
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Arkansas.
- Board Certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with relevant experience, or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).
- DEA registration or eligibility for DEA registration.
- BLS/ACLS certification required.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong commitment to patient advocacy and continuous quality improvement.
