Responsibilities
The Wound Ostomy Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for utilizing training and skills to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a physician.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
Obtain medical histories when necessary.
Perform physical exams (within established wound or surgical protocol).
Diagnose, treat and monitor chronic diseases (within protocol wound or surgical guidelines).
Order diagnostic tests.
Prescribe or recommend medications for prescription for medications and treatment (within protocol guidelines).
Promote positive lifestyle habits to all patients through education and counseling.
Assist wound center providers with wound or surgical clinic procedures.
Maintain patient’s privacy and confidentiality.
Make follow-up calls to check patient progress.
Work closely with wound center nurses to assure patient flow is efficient.
Assist wound center providers and inpatient wound nurse(s) with inpatient wound consults as well as see these patients independently.
Consult with doctor regarding patient symptoms to assure proper diagnosis and plan of treatment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Master's degree in nursing or Graduate of a Physician Assistant training Program
Required Licensure and Certifications
- Certified Nurse Practitioner, Certificate of fitness through American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Licensed as an RN in the state of TN, and Licensed as a CRNP in state of TN, required, or State PA License required
- AHA BLS required
