Night Shift Trauma Surgical Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Dignity Health Medical Group is the employed provider group of Dignity Health Arizona. Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG) employs approximately 350 providers and 850 support staff who cover a wide variety of specialties. The medical group has had tremendous success over the past few years and now provides more than 73 sub-specialty services. The physicians and APPs provide clinical services in their areas of specialty and many serve in pivotal academic research and leadership roles. DHMG is also heavily involved in preparing tomorrow's healthcare providers. Clinical services are complemented with translational and bench research to augment medical education for residents and students. We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Night Shift Trauma Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. You will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive and high-quality care to patients with gastrointestinal disorders.

Responsibilities
- Provide care to general surgery and trauma patients at level 1 trauma hospital
- Provide coverage to a 24 hour/7 day a week service line
- Obtain pertinent medical history and appropriate physical exams
- Orders and interprets pertinent lab and/or xray studies and conveys information to attending physicians
- Document all patient care within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and complete all necessary tasks in compliance with health system policies and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and accurate billing
- Counsels patients on pre and post-operative care, post-trauma care, recovery and expectations
- Rounding with residents/students
- Occasionally assist surgeons by providing first assistant surgical services
- Assists attending surgeons in hospital by making patient rounds, recording pertinent information in the patient’s medical record
- Prescribes medications within scope of practice and Arizona law
- Performs bedside procedures within scope of practice and delineation of privileges
- Keep medical knowledge and skills current through regular CME activity
- Maintain appropriate licensure required for role and active privileges at hospital
- Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, supporting the health system’s corporate integrity efforts by acting in an ethical and appropriate manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
PA Requirements:
- Degree as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Must hold and maintain: a.) AZ Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants License, b.) NCCPA - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant.
- Valid DEA registration.
- Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff
NP Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)
- Graduate of accredited program for Nurse Practitioners
- Compact state or Arizona RN license
- Arizona Advanced Practice Nurse license
- Must hold and maintain National Certificate as a nurse practitioner in area of specialty under AZ regulations: a.) NP-AACN, b.) NP-AANP, c.) NP-ANCC
- Valid DEA registration
- Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff
