Job Details
Dignity Health Medical Group - Arizona is seeking a 4th year Internal Medicine Chief Resident to join our team in Phoenix, AZ.
Accountability:
- Reports to the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director and Academic Chairman
- Assumes primary responsibility in the Program Director's absence
- Ensures resident compliance with departmental policies
- Collaborates with Residency Coordinators on ACGME and RRC policies
- Supervises and supports third-year chief residents in direct patiebt care on the inpatient services
Administrative/Teaching Duties:
- Serves as liaison between residents, faculty, and administration
- Sends weekly updates to stakeholders regarding research, education, and policies
- Provides feedback to Program Director on resident concerns
- Oversees third-year chief residents' activities
- Advocates for residents in addressing various issues
- Handles scheduling and clinic assignments
- Facilitates resident participation in research activities
- Organizes and leads educational conferences
- Collaborates with clerkship director for medical student education
- Represents residents on institutional and departmental committees
- Assists in resident recruitment and orientation
- Manages resident in-training exam schedules
- Ensures resident compliance with policies
- Duties: 50% clinical and 50% administrative/teaching
Quality Improvement:
- Leads or participates in quality improvement projects
- Contributes to hospital-wide QI committees
- Ensures resident engagement in QI projects
- Supports residents in submitting QI projects to IRB
- Assists faculty in mentoring residents in QI projects
- Supports CATCH program administration
Wellness:
- Participates in Wellness Committee activities
- Plans and organizes Wellness events
- Assists Wellness directors in developing curriculum and conferences
Job Requirements
- Completion of an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine
- Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, residents, and other healthcare professionals
- Commitment to resident education, mentorship, and professional development
- Understanding of accreditation standards and compliance requirements
- Evidence of involvement in scholarly activities, research, or quality improvement projects
- Dedication to patient care, safety, and quality improvement initiatives
- Willingness to serve as a role model and advocate for residents' well-being
- Capacity to handle administrative responsibilities effectively, such as scheduling, program assessment, and policy adherence

Creighton provides full CME, research, and publication support. Future goals will be an orthopedic residency and orthopedic trauma fellowship programs in combination with Chandler Regional Medical Center.
