The posted compensation range of $525,000 - $625,000 is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Trauma Surgery - EGS Director
Job Details
As the Emergency General Surgery Director at Creighton University Medical Center and CHI Health, you will join our Division of Trauma-Critical Care Surgery and lead our Section of Emergency General Surgery.
Every day you will provide leadership to our Section of Emergency General Surgery (EGS) at our vibrant ACS designated Level I Trauma-Critical Care Surgery program and expand our EGS clinical, surgical, research, and educational activities in conjunction with our Department of Surgery & Division of Trauma-Critical Care Surgery.
To be successful in this role, you will collaborate with our integrated, multispecialty system, working with every member of the Trauma team committed to the highest outcome of every procedure we perform. Our division is supported by many other resources associated with our academic institution, including a Research Department within the Division of Trauma-Critical Care Surgery.Creighton University Medical Center is one of only two Level 1 trauma centers in Nebraska (both are located in Omaha) and serves a large catchment area encompassing most of Nebraska and western Iowa. The next closest Trauma Centers are in Kansas City and Des Moines.
Resident activity with the Department of Surgery is highly engaging at our University Medical Center and Level I Trauma Center.
- Work in an academic and teaching environment educating Creighton University's surgical residents and medical students
- Conduct research in collaboration with scientists within Common Spirit and Creighton University School of Medicine.
- Additional Department of Surgery leadership opportunities are also available based on the applicant's experience and track record
- Work is divided into three (3) services lines including General Surgery, Trauma, and ICU, each with robust resident support
- Night and day shift APP support 7 days/week on Trauma and ICU
- Average four (4) 24 hour call shifts per month
- Highly competitive salary, no RVU requirements

Job Requirements
Required
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
Board certification or eligibility with the American College of Surgeons (ACS)
Active or eligible license in the state of Nebraska
Credentials appropriate for an appointment at the rank of associate professor or professor (clinical scholar or tenure pathway)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with healthcare professionals
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Proven and substantial leadership experience is required, as well as the ability to be a collaborative and inclusive leader
