The posted compensation range of $84.04 - $134.46 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Details
The Chief Radiation Physicist is responsible for assuring consistent, high quality radiation therapy
services are delivered to patients. The major components of this position include oversight of Dosimetry
and Physics related to planning and treatment; collaboration with physicians to develop treatment plans; and
precise and accurate delivery of radiation therapy for patient care. This position is responsible for
comprehensive quality assurance and establishes procedures and protocols for patient dosimetry and
radiation safety.
Responsibilities
1 Radiation Physicist Duties, include but are not limited to:
1.1 Provides radiological physics and dosimetry services as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.
1.2 Provides accurate computerized treatment planning support as required.
1.3 Provides dosimetry calculations for patient treatments.
1.4 Participates in designing, controlling, and updating all external beam and brachytherapy procedures performed.
1.5 Stays current in new techniques, physics methods, and equipment.
1.6 Participates in the acceptance, calibration, and beam data control for equipment. Please make sure to maintain records of
equipment maintenance in the assigned area. Oversees daily, monthly, and yearly calibration of equipment.
1.7 Participates in the design, implementation, construction, shielding calculations, and other regulatory aspects
involved in setting up new locations or updating existing sites.
1.8 Participates in the acquisition of accessory equipment necessary for quality assurance and patient treatment.
1.9 Operates and maintains (in collaboration with IT) computer systems in the department, and will work closely with
equipment/vendor representatives for Varian Eclipse and other systems as required.
Qualifications
Five (5) years as Medical Radiation
Physicist.
Experience as a radiation safety officer
(RSO); Experience in implementation of
new technology and Varian equipment.
Education
Masters degree in Radiological Physics PhD in Radiological Physics
Required Licensure and Certifications
Board Certification by the ABR or ABMP. Named on an
Agreement State or NRC license as RSO or assistant RSO within
the last 7 years for radioactive materials.
